Role of magnetostriction on power losses in nanocrystalline soft magnets

Abstract Soft magnetic materials are key for the cores used in motors and generators. To improve energy efficiency of cores, it is important to understand mechanism loss under oscillating fields. Here, we clarify nanocrystalline soft (NSMMs), which candidates energy-efficient cores. investigate an NSMM, necessary consider interaction between magnetization crystal lattice, i.e., magnetostriction. However, random distributions crystalline axes nanocrystals hinder magnetostriction calculation. We developed a micromagnetic simulation program by formulating effective fields due randomly oriented nanocrystallites. performed simulations NSMMs field found that moving domain wall dissipates into elastic lattice through These results can enable design highly NSMMs.
